This session will reveal insights into how to develop your choreographic voice in the early stages of a choreographer's work and advice on how to build the foundations for a career as a dance artist and choreographer. Learn about setting up a company, auditioning dancers, creating and touring your own work, and collaborating with others.

Richard Chappell is an internationally renowned choreographer, working actively within the South West of England and Wales. Forming his ensemble Richard Chappell Dance in 2013, Richard has toured work nationally and internationally with esteemed partners including the Royal Opera House, The Linbury Trust, Pavilion Dance South West, Studio Wayne McGregor, Dancin' Oxford, Dance in Devon and DanceEast, amongst others. As a guest choreographer, Richard has created works for Stuttgart Ballet, English National Ballet, Frontier Danceland (Singapore), Transitions Dance Company, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), YDance and the National Youth Ballet. Richard and works regularly with the CAT Schemes at Swindon Dance and Dance City. Presently, Richard is an Associate Artist at Exeter Northcott and Swindon Dance.
