    U.Dance Writing Challenge

Congratulations to the finalists and winners in the inaugural U.Dance Writing Challenge.

After much deliberation, the One Dance UK team and Guest Panellist Graham Watts are pleased to announce that there are joint winners of the challenge.

‘Judging these reviews and essays was a tough but thoroughly enjoyable challenge because the overall standard of all the entries was excellent. Each one had different merits in terms of description, analysis and opinion and all were enjoyably written with an impressive use of language. Prospects for the future of dance writing would appear to be very encouraging.’

    - Graham Watts, Chair of the Critics’ Circle Dance Section and Guest Panellist, U.Dance Writing Challenge

    • Winning Review: Lottie H, 16, South East England

    • “Great use of Language (I loved the expression ‘jitter and jest’); very descriptive and articulate in flowing and lyrical prose. A great read enlivened by several excellent phrases with close attention to detail.” - Graham Watts

      • Winning Essay: Lucy H, 15, East Midlands.

      • “An excellent essay with a clear and well-structured logic that has been written with an admirable economy of style and word count. It conveyed the transformative power of dance very well. I loved the expressiveness of the phrase ' ...faceless in a crowd of loneliness, desperation and despair.” - Graham Watts
